Doctoral position in RNA and protein biochemistry

A PhD position is available to investigate novel mechanisms of post-transcriptional processes. The focus is on a unique process of pre-RNA joining (trans-splicing). The project aims at identifying the predicted "joinosome" in mitochondria of the marine micro-eukaryote Diplonema (Marande & Burger 2007, Science 318:415). More details on the lab's research program are available.

Robert-Cedergren Centre for Bioinformatics and Genomics, biochemistry department, Université de Montréal, Montreal, Canada.

Training background

Master or equivalent in molecular biology, biochemistry or related disciplines.

Expertise

The candidate should have expertise in organelle isolation, protein and RNA purification, as well as enzymatic and ribozymic assays. Expertise in sequence analysis and basic computer knowledge (Unix/Linux) is recommended. Familiarity with culturing unicellular eukaryotes is desirable.
